What Is Meningitis?
Meningitis means the inflammation of meninges overlying the round brain and the spinal cord.
Types-Two types are commonly recognised.
1.Polygenic or bacterial e:g:H influenza,pneumococcal,meningococcal,
streptotococcal,Staphylococcal and Ecoli infections.
2Aseptice:e:g:Viral,tuberculosis fungal and protozoal.

New born
1.Vaccant stare
2.Drowsiness/Irritability
3.Vomiting/circulatory
4.Fever/Hypothermia
5.Reluctant to food.
6.poortone and poorcry.
7.Tremors/convulsion
8.Neurologocal deficits
9.Fontand may bulge.
10.Kerenigs sign neck rigidity absent.


Older Children
1.Irritability
2.Headache(bursting)
3.Vomiting
4.fever
5.restlessness
6.Photophobia
7.crenical nerve palsies
8.Fontand may bulge if not closed
9Neck rigidity kernigs sign may positive
 

Viral Meningitis:In most lustence viral meningitis self limited,however,the resulting disease are severe and progressive and lead to disability and death.
